My Spirit Guide
Every artist has an image that feels like a mirror held up to the soul. For me, that image became "My Spirit Guide." On this 16x20 acrylic canvas, I reached for my palette knives not just to paint an animal, but to express the feeling of living untamed-half in the world of trees and wind, half in the world of thought and memory.
As I pulled color across the surface, I let the edges stay raw and energetic. Feathers, fur, or mane-however you choose to see it-emerge from bold, directional strokes that seem to move even when the room is still. The background dissolves into suggestions of open sky and distant land, creating a sense that this guide is always in motion, always leading you toward the next horizon.
I painted this piece for those moments when you need reminding that you are more than your schedule or your to-do list. Hung where your eye lands often-in an entryway, beside your desk, or above a favorite chair-it becomes a quiet nudge toward courage, curiosity, and the wilder parts of yourself.
The textured surface catches light throughout the day, so different facets of the animal reveal themselves over time, just as a true spirit guide does. If you feel a strong pull toward a particular creature-wolf, horse, owl, or something entirely your own-I also offer commissions in this expressive palette knife style, translating your personal animal symbol into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
